i can travel to bristol from inverness cheaper by air than i can to take the train from inverness, even booking in advance for 1 adult its over £400.00 return journey this is extortionate, air fares used to be more expensive than the train not any more. 11 hours by train for these prices or less than 2 hours by air for approx £80.00 return , no brainer who wins, i think the rail companies need to seriously look at reducing their fares to something more affordable
What has happened to trainline prices? It is now the same price to go to my local station and buy over the counter, for a pre booked ticket. Trainline used to be so competitive.
cheaper via east coast website.
tickets where cheaper booking direct at scotrail

Used it for years - very efficient!
I've been using theTrainline for years to book regular travel up and down the country. The website is easy to use, you just type in your dates, locations and they provide you with the trains available. They present all the ticketing options so you can get the most value-for-money option for you and it's really quick. You pay (you can save your details so you don't have to fill payment details in every time) and then you receive a code by email that you can use to pick up your ticket, or you can opt to get your tickets sent to you in the post. It really is an efficient service and it has never failed me. The only problem I have is if you need to change or cancel your train it's difficult to get a straight forward exchange or refund. That really is my only complaint though. Love this website!
Trainline - Beware if booking through phone app
I booked a couple of tickets through trainline phone app and was delighted at the cost but... When I picked up the tickets they were for different times than I booked. I emailed them and they eventually agreed to refund but only if I re-booked with them. So I called them and they couldn't match the price I had paid. To cut a very long story short, I 've had to post, recorded delivery, at my expense, the tickets back to trainline and wait for a refund. Really not happy with them at all!! My advice, if you are going to use trainline, don't do it on the phone!!
1st time using Trainline website
I found the Trainline site easy to use, and although I was a bit apprehensive about booking my tickets from London to Brighton since the trip was the next day but I was able to pick them up at the station with no hassles. The only annoyance was that the website makes you sign up for an account and there's no option to check out as guest, which lengthens the process a bit.
The Trainline Customer Reviews
I always book through Trainline, it's quick and easy to use the website and have always got my tickets on time by post or simply picking up at the station, I always recommend your website to frineds.
Always a quick and efficient system when booking through Trainline.com!
I often book through Trainline.com and found them to be extremely efficient on line and posting the tickets, next day! I had to obtain a refund one time and the system was very easy to use and the money was refunded into my account no problem. Would not look for any other company to buy my tickets. Very satisfied!

About The Trainline
The Train-line is the easy and convenient way to buy train tickets online. The Internet service was launched in 1999 and there are now over eight million registered users. Almost 20% of the national ticket sales revenue comes from the Website and the call centres affiliated with The Trainline – with the exception of season tickets. The UK rail sector has several different options for tickets but there are not many that are so comprehensive. This particular company has low overhead and can sell a large volume of tickets, making it customer service oriented and able to sustain itself quite easily. Since it provides services to fourteen of the rail companies there are very few customers it cannot serve, further helping its customer base and revenue.
There are eighteen national rail lines throughout the UK. Fourteen of them are serviced by this company. If The Trainline does not have tickets for a customer, it is a rare occurrence. The number of users that the company has shows that most customers are very happy to be using the service and that they are continuing to do so. The Train-line company has been expanding and is now offering more services that go with their product. Emails regarding tickets, corporate travel services, and travel management companies are part of their company profile now. They are able to provide much more to the individuals who use their services and their company will continue to expand in the future.
